Anyone you've shared a club or a riff with is now a friend, and friends can read and comment on each other's revealed pieces. Want someone new in the mix? Invite them through a piece. Once they join, you're friends.

Not everything needs a riff.
Wrote something on your own? Hit Finish to publish it without a riff. You can even set the publish date, for that essay you actually wrote back in March.

One riff, one scroll.
A riff is now one scrolling page: who's writing, who's done, and every comment and reply as it happens. Club pages got a matching grid, and starting or picking a draft works the same way everywhere.

My Riffs is now just Home. New folks go straight from their email to their name to Home, no detours. And there's a Let's Riff button waiting in the navbar on every page.

Small fixes, big feelings
Editing a riff no longer quietly moves its deadline. Comments stay attached to the right words when the author edits a piece. Past Riffs stopped showing empty riffs, read rings count correctly, and you'll get a little confirmation when you copy a link.

Riff pages got an activity feed with threaded comments, plus a Read by strip with little progress rings so you can see who's gotten through everyone's pieces.

Profiles with personality
Profiles got a proper hero section with a bigger avatar, a few stats about your writing, and a bio you write yourself. Add yours from Account.

Hosting, shared
Hosts can add a co-host to help run the club, or hand the whole thing off to someone else. And if a club isn't for you anymore, you can leave it.

A gentle nudge
Riff now sends a friendly email when a deadline's coming up, when you've joined a riff but haven't started writing, or when your club has a riff you haven't joined yet. You can turn emails off anytime in Account.

The fine print, fixed
Notifications take you to the right place now. The About page got a rewrite. Read pages keep it simple with just the reading time and date. And the submit button says “Cover + Submit,” so you know what's coming.

Comments, now in stereo.
Comments used to be one-shots. Now you can reply right back — desktop expands a thread inline on the card, mobile keeps it inside the existing comment sheet. Read a piece, leave a thought, get a response, keep it going.

New font, who dis?
Not everyone loves Playfair Display as much as we do. So we added some more options: another serif, 2 sans serifs, and a mono (for you weirdos). Unfortunately, Wingdings didn't make the cut.

WTF is Riff?
Jarric loves tutorials. So he made a new flow that walks you through a whole riff — writing, submitting, and the big reveal — plus a Getting Started checklist on your club page. If you're reading this, you probably won't get to see it (you're an existing user), but we hope new users will like it.

Room to breathe
There's now more room to write at the bottom of the page while the toolbar stays out of your way. A redesigned submit step where you add your cover right on the preview makes submissions less scary (still kinda scary but we're talking about it). And image uploads bumped from 5MB to 10MB so you can upload some high-res stuff.

“Account,” not “Settings”
You told us “Settings” vs “Profile” was confusing. Now it's clearer: your Profile is your public, social self — your Account is where you manage your personal stuff.

Riff in motion (beta)
We're experimenting with reading as an experience: an essay broken into beats, with music and motion, and you tap to move forward. It's live on one piece for now, so keep an eye out for the Riff in motion button.
🎬Kyle went a little overboard on this one.
Riffs that read better
Untitled riffs now show their Volume number automatically, deadlines get an urgency-colored countdown as time runs low, dates read cleaner across the board, and “Join riff” became a more fitting “Let's riff.”

Club pages leveled up
Avatar stacks now show up to ten members with a tidy +N for the rest, and club headers look consistent whether you're on mobile or desktop, banner or no banner.
🏀Because who knows, you might want to start a write club with your entire basketball team.
Profiles & reading, fixed up
Your profile now orders pieces by when you actually shared them, read pages show submitted dates, lock icons appear consistently on unrevealed pieces, and friends can click straight through to your public pieces.
